Message from the Representative Director — Putting Technology to Work

Introduction

Thank you for visiting the Scalable Systems Co., Ltd. website. My name is Takahiko Tomuro, Representative Director of the company.

Since founding the company, I have consistently valued one principle: making technology truly useful in real-world environments.

In the computing industry, new products and technologies are introduced at an extraordinary pace. However, simply adopting the latest technology does not automatically result in a good system. What matters most is designing and implementing a system that fits the actual application and operating environment, and that can continue to operate reliably over time.

Putting Technology to Work

I personally continue to work hands-on with servers, storage systems, networking equipment, and other technologies, and remain directly involved in system evaluation and implementation.

Because technology in this field changes so rapidly, we believe it is important not to rely solely on catalogs and specifications. We actually install the equipment, combine different components, test the systems, investigate problems when they arise, and verify the results ourselves.

HPC and AI systems are not defined by CPU or GPU performance alone. Cooling, power design, storage, networking, operating systems, and software must all work together properly before the system can deliver its intended performance.

Our goal is not simply to sell high-performance products. Our goal is to build systems that our customers can use with confidence in their actual working environments.

The Advantages of Being a Small Company

Scalable Systems is not a large organization. We believe, however, that this is also one of our strengths.

Rather than having a sales representative hand a project over to a separate technical department, the engineers who actually design, build, test, and support the systems speak directly with our customers.

When we receive a request, we consider not only whether something is technically possible, but also whether the proposed configuration is truly necessary and whether there may be a more practical approach.

When appropriate, we are willing to look beyond conventional methods, think through the problem together with the customer, and search for the most suitable solution. We believe this flexibility is one of the values that a small, technology-focused company can provide.

Working Together with Our Customers

After many years in this business, one thing I have learned is that the more technically challenging a project becomes, the less likely it is that a ready-made answer already exists.

Our customers come to us not only for new system installations, but also with a wide variety of challenges: systems that are not performing as expected, hardware or software failures, questions about how to extend the useful life of existing systems, or how to improve an environment within a limited budget.

In such situations, we work together with our customers to understand the actual conditions, investigate the possible causes one by one, and find a realistic solution.

I believe that this continuous process of solving real problems together with our customers is one of the most important roles of a technology company.

Looking Ahead

Technologies surrounding AI and HPC will continue to evolve at a remarkable pace.

Even as technology changes, however, the importance of actually testing systems, ensuring stable operation in real-world environments, and responding properly when problems occur will remain unchanged.

Scalable Systems will continue not merely to pursue the newest technologies, but to focus on turning those technologies into solutions that deliver real value in our customers' environments.
